The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, (which is in the Ambleside list of recommended books where I saw it the first time), and it was simply delightful, insightful, inspiring. One of the best books I have read in my life. I laughed and cried with Maria Von Trapp, and I learned a lot from her memories. I have been talking so much about the book, that my friends and family tell me to stop or I will spoil it for them. Amazingly, almost everyone has seen the motion picture inspired by their life, The Sound of Music, but not many have read the book or heard the songs they were fond of singing, from Bach, to motets, German folk songs, American folk songs, and an amazing repertoire, from the classic to the more popular (genuinely popular, folklore, not just the songs of the moment that play on the radio).
